11:30:13 - Tongue Twister

Hi folks ~ it has been another jam-packed day, so I apologise for another ‘quickie’ but this site has some “great tongue-twisters” to play around with --> THERE ARE OVER 500 TO CHOOSE FROM ~ I am sure that you don’t know them all ~ use them and have some fun doing it ...

--> Tongue Twister list <--

And I was just getting started ...!!

Kasukabe event 17th Aug 2013 - 10

So who has seen me being “peppy”? Who knows the meaning of “peppy”? Who ever uses the word “peppy”?

This is for you ‘dictionary fans’:
peppy [ˈpɛpɪ]
adj.
Informal full of vitality; bouncy or energetic

There was a small local event going on ~ the first ever event ~ so I asked my friend if he “needed a hand”?

No, we’re fine but do ‘pop-in’ around noon and ‘say hello’ if you can.

So with that in mind, I are dressed VERY casually, as I was imaginging that I would be helping my friend ‘set-up shop’ for a little while, then checking out what is going on and then heading off. But THAT is not what he had planned for me . . .

We walked by his Cafe “NAYA” www.naya-cafe.comKasukabe event 17th Aug 2013 - 02
(in Kasukabe) on the way to the river, where the event was being held.

Upon arrival, we saw all the City Workers starting to set up tents and stalls etc for the event. I saw my friend unloading a freezer and ice cream and other things, so we went over to help.

Guys, please watch these while we go and get another load - we’ll be right back.” It was 12:15...

An hour later and with me still guarding-the-goods, someone plucked-up courage to ask me what I was doing and who I was with. Not knowing what company name Ken used for registration, I said “NAYA” ~> “NAYAはあそこの五番テントです〜よろしくおねがします”。

So we moved everything to the right place and then Ken finally came back. There was a lot more ‘setting-up’ than I had anticipated, and in the 35C heat is was rather warm, to say the least!

We finally got things ready by the 3:00pm start-time AND THEN HE SAID...

You’ll need to put the apron on!

“Errr, what?”

If you can ‘Welcome’ everyone and hand me drinks when they order them, that will be great.

“Sure, okay!”

Ken cuts the bottom from a large paper cup, so I can use it as a ‘megaphone’. So here is this あやしいガイジン (me) continually shouting:

”いらしゃいませえええええ”
”おいしいソフトアイスいかがですかあああああ”
“Come and get your delicious Soft Ice Cream heeeeere”
”ラムネーラムネーラムネーラムネーラムネエエエエエエ〜 あります!”
”コローコローコローコローコローコローCoronaaaaaaa〜あります”
“Ebisu生ビールいかがですかああああああ”
“Ebisu draft beer - the best beer in Japan”
“Ice cream, you scream, we all scream for delicious ice cream!
“おいしいーおいしいーおいしいソフトアイスcome and get itttttttttttttt!”

AND MANY, MANY MORE THINGS!

Yes, that’s me ‘blending-in with the moment’ and being appropriately “peppy” for occasion.

It was so funny looking at all the other vendors and guests STARING AT ME ==>> “Who is that!?!”

Check out some of the photos and do come along to NAYA ~ you’ll love it there; Cafe NAYA

I hope you also had a terrific day. Tomorrow I’ll give plenty of information about “Sassy Saturday” and what went on at the event I was at ~ quite hilarious seeing a ‘gaijin’ screaming his lungs out for 5 hours straight!!!!!

Look forward to the whole story tomorrow ...

“Are onions OK?”

I was trying to keep a straight face when the waitress asked me this question, but inside I cracked-up laughing!!

I was out with a friend and we stopped at to a nearby ‘Family Restaurant’ to have a nibble (little bit to eat), but more importantly it was to cool down from the hot weather outside. I didn’t see anything I particularly fancied (wanted) on the menu, so I just chose something healthy (Japanese spaghetti with mushrooms, nori, natto and ONIONS).

My friend asked if there was any ‘bacon’ or other meat in the sauce, as I am a vegetarian ~ it seemed like a normal question to me but apparently not, since the waitress then asked this...

“There is no meat but ARE ONIONS OKAY?”

...ha ha ha ha ha ha ~ what a funny question! I can only imagine that she doesn’t understand what “vegetarian” means!?!

Do you have any funny situations like this? Let me know ...
